Stainless Steel TGP Shafting

Stainless Turned, Ground & Polished Precision (TGP) Shafting is a non-magnetic, austenitic stainless steel that cannot be hardened by heat treatment. It is the free machining modification of the basic 18% chromium / 8% nickel stainless steel. The process involves turning the raw stainless steel bar to the desired diameter, then grinding the surface to further refine the dimensions and remove any imperfections. Finally, the shaft is polished to achieve a smooth, shiny surface finish.

Stainless steel inherently possesses excellent corrosion resistance, making TGP shafts suitable for various environments, including those exposed to moisture, chemicals, and certain acids. Stainless steel is also known for its strength and durability, allowing TGP shafts to withstand heavy loads and mechanical stress. The turning and grinding processes ensure precise diameter and straightness, making the shafts suitable for applications where accurate measurements are critical.

Benefits Of TGP Shafting

  • Corrosion resistant to harsh atmospheric elements
  • Excellent machinability for precise shapes and sizes
  • Precision machining applications include the chemical and aerospace industries
  • High-quality finish
  • High-strength

Stainless Steel TGP Shafting is utilized in various industrial applications, including but not limited to:

  • Machinery and Equipment: TGP shafts are commonly used in manufacturing machinery, pumps, compressors, and industrial equipment where precise rotation and load-bearing capabilities are required.
  • Linear Motion Systems: They are used as linear shafts in applications such as linear bearings and slides, providing smooth and accurate motion.
  • Marine Applications: TGP shafts are used in marine environments for various components and equipment due to their corrosion-resistant properties.
  • Food and Beverage Industry: The stainless steel construction of TGP shafting makes it suitable for food processing and handling equipment, where hygiene and corrosion resistance are essential.
