AR400F Steel Plates

AR400F steel plates are abrasion-resistant (AR) steel specifically designed to withstand high levels of wear and impact. The “AR400F” designation indicates the steel has a nominal hardness of 400 Brinell, a measurement of hardness used in materials testing. The “F” suffix stands for “formable,” indicating that a particular grade of AR steel has enhanced formability compared to other AR grades.

AR400F steel plates are commonly used in applications where resistance is needed against abrasion, wear, and impact. These plates are primarily employed in mining, construction, forestry, manufacturing, and heavy equipment.

The main characteristic of AR400F steel plates is their exceptional toughness and hardness. The steel is alloyed with carbon, manganese, and chromium, contributing to its hardness and strength. AR400F plates offer excellent resistance to sliding and gouging abrasion, making them suitable for environments where materials repeatedly slide or rub against each other. They can withstand heavy impacts and high levels of mechanical stress without significant damage.

Uses of AR400F Steel Plates

AR400F steel plates are typically used in applications such as:

  • Bucket liners: AR400F plates are commonly used to line buckets of heavy machinery like excavators and loaders, protecting them from wear caused by abrasive materials such as rocks, gravel, and ores.
  • Wear plates: These plates line chutes, hoppers, and conveyors in mining operations, preventing material flow from damaging the equipment.
  • Crusher parts: AR400F plates manufacture crusher parts such as liners and hammers to withstand the continuous impact and abrasion caused by crushing various materials.
  • Earthmoving equipment: Components like blades, cutting edges, and ripper shanks on bulldozers, scrapers, and graders are often made from AR400F steel plates, ensuring durability and extended service life.
  • Structural applications: AR400F steel plates are also utilized in various structural applications where there is a need for high strength and resistance to wear, such as truck beds, platforms, and support structures.
